Equilibrium

Many books about child development mention the concept of equilibrium/disequilibrium. The idea is that when an infant is 18 months things may be very difficult - more tantrums, whining and crying as the child struggles to master new skills, but when that same child reaches age 2 things settle down and life is grand. So every 6 months the parent is in for a major shift. I'd say Cole has borne this theory out this year. At age 3, he was a pleasure and delight but as age 3.5 approached he grew more aggressive, moody, angry, loud, and ornery. However, as we draw near age 4 I am ecstatic to observe that Cole is Cole again. He is bright, thoughtful, kind, empathetic, and inquisitive. He is a joy to be around.

Audrey is beautiful and a force to be reckoned with!



She is crawling ... FAST! She is also pulling up on anything and everything and creeping along the furniture. She will be walking very soon I imagine as she is determined to catch up to her brother. It is a daily challenge to change and clothe her since she prefers not to stay still. She has a lovely toothy grin - just two tiny teeth on the bottom. She is a champion eater (as opposed to her brother at that age). She will eat almost anything but if she runs into something unsavory she grimaces and shakes her head in an adorable fashion. Pureed peas elicit this response.

Cole loves to play "chase" with her while running around our 900 square foot home squealing with abandon. He will run to me and ask to be "saved". She loves the game as much as he though it can often turn a bit too physical.

Cole is crazy about Rescue Heroes since he got a shipment from our good friends in Iowa, Thanks Julie! Today we went to a used toy store to see if we could find some more to add to his collection. We lucked out after sifting through A LOT of junk and found Jake Justice. Cole is thrilled.
