Cole-Lego Agent Man

Dad blogging here....
Lego toys seem to be incredibly popular these days. More than I recall from when I was at Cole's age. As has been mentioned previously, Cole seems to have been hooked by the marketing. One of his favorite Lego themes is "Lego Agents".
In this picture, he's dressed up as one of the Lego Agents. I think he looks like a candidate for the Secret Service.

Cole is also a member of the ultra-exclusive Lego Club. To become a member, you have to send in a card with your address on it. Clearly, not everyone makes the cut for this elite cadre. He recently attended his first club meeting down in Bellevue at the Bell Square Lego Store.
As you can see, Audrey joined in to get her indoctrination started early.

Audrey was characteristically talkative, which Cole apparently took issue with.

Pretty soon all the REAL members went off to do their thing, so Audrey and Mom went shopping for spare parts. These bins are only a few of the replacement items one can procure.

For only $250, you can walk away with this amazing Lego Star Wars creation. It's called an All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE Walker).

Audrey's interests ran to other items...

Fortunately the Lego Store caters to the interests of all kids.

While Audrey worked on her Christmas list, Cole and the other club membrs got down to the real work. They gather around boxes o' plastic and get to work on a creation that fits a certain theme.

The sales staff cruises around and helps with ideas as the process rolls along.

I don't recall what the theme was for this visit, but it must have been some sort of flying transport idea.

Afterwards, they gather around the ceremonial discussion table and show what they made. I like the creative aspect of this exercise, it seems to foster imaginative play. However, there's an element of violent play that seems to reside in the themes that Lego makes toys for. One of the first kids to talk about his creation called it a "death blaster". Hmmmmm.....

Here's Cole with the finished product. Also sporting his new club jersey. He's hooked!
